Dissertation title: Multidisciplinary approach to bra development for enhanced product performance and improved comfort.
The existing mass-manufacture of bras no longer fits in today’s world because not everyone fits; and more importantly, the functions of a bra have expanded. Beyond keeping the breast in position as an under wear, bras are now worn alone (sports bras, beach bras, etc.) and for specialized purposes (surgical bras). In addition, there is high variability within the human body and from person to person. In women, this variability is intensified by age, weight, pregnancy, breast surgery (mastectomy or breast reconstruction) and significant breast asymmetry amongst other factors.
