My research centres the introduction of traditional Burkinabe woven textiles — representative of Mossi culture in Burkina Faso — into the University of Alberta Museums’ Anne Lambert Clothing and Textiles Collection. This research explores the significance of different acquisition strategies used in cross-cultural curation of textiles collections, as well as the teaching value demonstrated by textiles collections for understanding social/political/economic phenomena through material culture.
